An old friend will come to town as Florida basketball (13-6, 3-3 SEC) will look to close out a two-game homestand with another win Saturday against Georgia.

Former Florida Gators coach Mike White, in his second season coaching the Bulldogs, has Georgia (14-5, 4-2 SEC) off to its best start since 2002-03, when Jim Harrick was coach.

White went 142-88 in seven seasons at UF coach, leading the Gators to four NCAA Tournament trips in seven seasons before taking over at Georgia before the start of the 2022-23 season. He went 16-16 in his first season at Georgia and 0-2 against the Gators.

"I have a lot of respect for how he coaches," Florida basketball coach Todd Golden said. "His teams are really organized, they're really disciplined, you know, they don't beat themselves. I feel like when I'm watching other opponents in our league, and when they're competing against Georgia, I tend to agree or align with a lot of their game plans and what they do.

Georgia is led by 6-foot-8 wing Jabari Abdur-Rahim, the son of former NBA standout Sharif Abdur-Rahim, who is averaging 13.7 points per game.

Florida is looking to extend its win streak to three games and get above .500 in conference play for the first time this season. Florida has been balanced all season with four starters in double figures, led by junior guard Walter Clayton Jr., who is averaging 15.8 points and 2.1 3-pointers per game. Clayton suffered a wrist bruise during UF's 79-70 win over Mississippi State on Wednesday but has practiced this week and is at 100 percent for Saturday's game against the Bulldogs.

Florida announced that the 10,151-seat O'Connell Center is sold out for the game, with limited obstructed-view tickets available at 11 a.m.

"It's really great for our guys," Golden said. "I think they really enjoy all the support and playing in front of the crowd. Hopefully we can take advantage of it tomorrow.”
