Hi there! It doesn’t matter which you use. However, generally, it is best to pick either American or British and stick to that throughout. As long as the way you’ve spelled a word is acceptable in either British or American English, your spelling of that word will be absolutely fine. I know that you recommended in the article to generally stick to one type of English. So using various forms of English to expand the vocabulary is counterproductive? Should I stick to repeating (for e.g. waste and rubbish) again and again in an Essay or use American words like garbage and trash as well?

I’ve talked to an examiner and she told me I’m not getting the score I need cuz I use both American and British Vocabulary so it makes my sentences inconsistent Why would she say something like that??
