1. Yes, you are correct that you can use a pencil for the Listening and Reading sections of the IELTS exam. For the Writing section, you are also allowed to use a pencil. In fact, using a pencil is recommended as it allows you to easily erase and correct any mistakes you may make during the Writing section.

2. Achieving a band 8-9 score also depends on your existing English language proficiency, your ability to address the specific requirements of each question, and your test-taking skills on the day of the exam.

What about inverting commas and decimal points? E.G: 1,000,000 in the UK/US is 1.000.000 elsewhere (and vice versa : 1.50 in UK/US = 1,50 elsewhere)…..
