Yes, the first main body paragraph is relevant as it is explaining how consumers are tricked into buying products as they are being told negative/misleading things to convince them to buy.

“In many ways, these companies trick us into buying their products, when all we need to be happy are much simpler items.”

This line also explains how it is a negative development as we do not need these expensive products to make ourselves feel happy.

My questions is regarding the above essay. Is the first main body paragraph relevant according to the question asked? I mean the question is asking “Is shopping as an entertainment considered to be a positive or negative development?” But first MBP states the reason why people are now more engaged in shopping.
